Reservations are now being accepted at http://www.recreation.gov/ for the months of August and early September 2011. The expected opening date is identified as July but reservations will not be accepted until the August timeframe to ensure that the park is ready prior to the first reservation.
New map is online at http://www.recreation.gov/ - tent only walk-in sites; single, double and triple sites are also identified. Check it out and keep checking back here for the opening date - I will post as soon as I have it!

Mt. Rose is undergoing a major reconstruction project that started in the summer of 2010. It is expected to be completed by July 2011 - depending on the weather.
This is going to be one incredible campground! All new bathrooms, all new camping ammenities including bear boxes, BBQs, tables, etc. All the existing campsites are being renovated - plus an additional group of walk-in sites plus double and triple sites. Very RV and tent friendly.
Mt. Rose offers hiking trails; bicycling; great photo ops; nearby access to Lake Tahoe; and some unique features such as WIFI; television and excellent cell phone reception.
There are camp hosts on-site and fire wood is available for sale.
